The Spiritual Trap of Denial: Why Confession Brings Healing

There are two traps John highlights: saying “I don’t sin” or saying “I’ve never sinned.” Both traps are rooted in pride, and both cut us off from grace.
Think of it like being sick but refusing to see a doctor. The sickness doesn’t go away just because you won’t name it. Denial doesn’t heal us—it isolates us.
Confession, on the other hand, doesn’t magnify your failures. It magnifies God’s mercy. It brings hidden things into the light where healing begins.
Reflection: What part of your story are you tempted to deny or hide?
