Something Luminous Is Coming

There are parts of Scripture that don’t follow the straight lines we expect. They don’t argue toward a tidy conclusion or unfold with rigid logic. Instead, they move with rhythm—circling, returning, layering. They don’t rush to give us something new; they help us dwell in what’s already true. Slowly. Deeply. Transformationally.

1 John is one of those texts.

In the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing more about a new project called Light Upon Light: An Ascending Journey Through the Wisdom of 1 John. It’s been in the works for a long time—a slow meditation on a short letter that has quietly shaped the Church for centuries.

Unlike the sharp edges of Pauline logic, John’s writing spirals. It doesn’t push forward—it pulls us inward. It doesn’t rush toward resolution; it returns, again and again, to what matters most. Light. Love. Sin. Fellowship. Assurance. Transformation. Not repetition—but revelation. Not information—but formation.

Light Upon Light is written with that rhythm in mind. It’s not just a commentary on 1 John—it’s a companion for the inward journey. A guide not only to understand the text, but to inhabit it.

This is Scripture to be dwelled in. Prayed through. Returned to. It’s theology shaped like communion.

I’ll be posting more soon—about the release, the content, and how you can engage with the book. But for now, I simply wanted to say:

Something luminous is on the horizon. Layer by layer. Grace upon grace.

Light upon light.
